Hagan, Patricia A.
Patricia A. Hagan, 82, of MeadowView Village in Cedar Rapids, died at The Meth-Wick Community on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. The Rev. David Ambrosy will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where there will be a vigil service at 2 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Monday at the church.
Survivors include a son, Tom (Pam) of Omaha, Neb.; and two daughters, Terri (Jeff) Ilten and Sharon Schneekloth, both of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jason (Ia) Hagan, Lindsay Hagan, Chelsey (Chris) Watts, Molly Ilten and Kathiah and Aubrey Schneekloth; and one great-grandchild, John Pia Abel Hagan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Merkel.
Pat was born Jan. 29, 1930, in Dubuque, the daughter of Tom and Mary (Tilp) Gauvin. She graduated from Visitation Academy and later Clarke College, both in Dubuque.
She married John H. Hagan on Jan. 3, 1953, in Dubuque. He died in 2008.
Pat was a certified medical technician from 1953 to 1973 and later a teacher's associate at Kennedy High School for over 15 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church; the Four Score Women's organization at Collins Radio, volunteered for the Kirkwood Library Program and received the State of Iowa Governor's Award from Governor Terry Brandstad in 1993.
She lived in Cedar Rapids from 1956 to 1973, when she and her husband moved to the country where she enjoyed her dogs, cross country snow skiing and gardening. She enjoyed hosting family and friends, especially over the Fourth of Julyholiday.
Pat will always be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Memorial donations may be given to the National Parkinson's Foundation.
