Welbourne, Douglas C.
Douglas C. Welbourne, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Jan. 18, 2013, at Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids. Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Dale Phelps. Family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Survivors include daughter, Susie (Jack) Lindstrom of Ely; four grandchildren, Mike Lindstrom, Tina (Mike) White, Andy (Kristi) Welbourne and Casey (Pamela) Welbourne; 10 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Danielle, Bayley, Logan, Grace, Tyler, Colten, Ellie, Abel and Dash; three sisters-in-law, Pat (Del) Smith, Kate Bruce and Helen Bruce; many nieces and nephews; and several long time close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Nellie Welbourne; wife, Maxine Welbourne; son, Scott Welbourne; daughter-in-law, Rose; brother, Howard; and sisters, Adeline and Mabel.
Douglas was born June 7, 1919, in West Allis, Wis., son of Howard and Nellie Welbourne. He married Maxine Bruce on Dec. 31, 1944, in Cedar Rapids. Douglas was plant manager at Rapids Equipment until retirement. He served in the United States Army throughout World War II.
Doug enjoyed golf, fishing, playing cards and doughnuts with friends at Donutland. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and many longtime friends.
Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery; reception following services.
