Fraverd, Donald George
Donald George Fraverd, 88, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center died there Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel where friends may call after 9 a.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Lois Keller of Cedar Rapids; a cousin, Edward Vosmek of Cedar Rapids; and many other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corrine; a son, William Fraverd in 1995; and his parents.
Donald was born July 22, 1921, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Arthur and Lillian Vosmek Fraverd. He married Corrine R. Dyrland on Aug. 19, 1943, in Cedar Rapids. Donald was a tool and dye maker for Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1983. He was an Air Force flight instructor in Norman, Okla. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his cabin on Abel Island near Guttenberg. He loved animals and wood working.
Memorials may be made to Shueyville United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
