Lyle George Moel, 91, of Zavalla, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 13, 2015, in Lufkin, Texas. Graveside services with military honors will be held Friday, June 19, at Concord Cemetry, near Zavalla, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Jo Moel; five children and stepchildren; brother, Dean Moel; sisters, Billie Schowengerdt and Sharon Schilling; and nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Audrey Moel.
He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 and worked Link Belt Speeder for 33 years. He was instrumental in the formation of the National Alliance for Mental Illness. His devoted involvement spanned 27 years.
