Five Seasons Dual pairings

Dec. 3, 2010 10:49 am
The brackets for the 19th Annual Five Seasons Duals on Saturday, Dec. 11 have been released and the top three teams in Class 3A are in the field once again. Bettendorf, Iowa City West and Waverly-Shell Rock appear to be the front runners to come away from the 15-team field as the champions. The Trojans are the defending champs.
First round is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. with the finals round starting about 4 p.m. The event, co-hosted by C.R. Kennedy and C.R. Washington, will hold the championship meet at Kennedy High School. The third-, ninth- and 11th-place duals will be competed at Kennedy. Other placing duals will be at Washington, but sites could change based on participating schools (For instance, if Washington competes in the 11th-place match it will be held at Washington instead of Kennedy and another dual will be moved to Kennedy and likewise for Kennedy in a placing dual to be held at Washington).
A few differences in the field this year. It's 15 teams because of a late cancellation that didn't allow for enough time to find a replacement. Also, C.R. Prairie is making a return to the tournament. It's been awhile since the Hawks were in the tournament. Marshalltown and C.R. Xavier, who were in the field last year, are not participating.
