Ronald "Ron" J. DeCoste, 75, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, following a short illness. A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends one hour before the service.
He is survived by his wife, Geri; children, Dennis (Chui) DeCoste, Don (Lori Johnson) DeCoste and Dave (Jayne) DeCoste; grandchildren, Matthew, Kathleen, Olivia, Madeline, Michael, Nicole and Justin; siblings, Judy Duda (Bud Weber), Barbara Nika and Susan (Marty) Brownfield; brother-in-law, Jim Meyers; and many nieces and nephews.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Beth Meyers; and brother-in-law, Walt Duda.
Ronald was born July 10, 1940, in Chicago, to Joseph E. and Betty (Kostial) DeCoste. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 through 1963. Ron married Geri Ostrowski on Oct. 26, 1963, in Chicago. He worked for Pitney Bowes for 34 years as a service representative.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He also enjoyed gardening.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or UnityPoint Hospice.
