Second-String Sportswriters Football Selections

We've got faces for radio and voices for the newspaper. This week a few of us SourceMedia Group sportswriters will make the same selections on our multiple websites as the stars who appear in the Saturday morning version of The Gazette. Here's our chance to shine:

JEFF JOHNSON

• Ohio State 23, Iowa 17 – An 8-4 record is what all of you in Hawk-land had in mind this season, right?
• Missouri 28, Iowa State 27 – If you can't beat Colorado when absolutely have to, you don't deserve to go to a bowl.
• Coe 28, Wheaton 16 – Wouldn't a Coe-Wartburg rematch in the second round of the D-III playoffs be pretty cool?
• Last week: 2-1; Overall: 21-12

SCOTT DOCHTERMAN

• Iowa 23, Ohio State 21 - At this point, does it really matter who I pick?
• Iowa State 38, Missouri 31 - The Cyclones will earn a bowl berth in Detroit with this upset win.
• Coe 30, Wheaton 22 - The Wheaton Iceman had two other nicknames: The Galloping Ghost and Red. Coe wears red.
• Last week: 0-3; Overall: 17-16

JEFF LINDER

• Iowa 24, Ohio State 17 – Up-again, down-again Hawkeyes are up again.  
• Coe 27, Wheaton 17  – Coe upset St. John's last year in the first round. Wheaton ain't St. John's.
• Missouri 41, Iowa State 28 – Cyclones hanging up a threat. Tigers provide the scissors.
• Last week: 0-3; Overall: 23-10

K.J. PILCHER

• Ohio State 23, Iowa 21 – Where's that Ohio U. mascot when you need him?
• Coe 35, Wheaton 21 – In the words of Coe backers, “Bleed Crimson. Win Gold.”
• Missouri 44, Iowa State 24 – The only time Missouri matters is baseball season and that's just the Eastern portion.
