Janice Elaine Rogen, 70, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on April 24, 2018, at Manor Care after her 4 ½ year battle with cancer.
Thank you to her godchild, Shannon Rissman Debner, who was by her side from the beginning to the end.
Janice was born on April 5, 1948, in Waukon, Iowa, to Jasper and Leverne Rogen. She was baptized and confirmed at Glenwood Lutheran Church. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1966 and University College of Cosmetology in 1967. She worked several years as a hairdresser and at Drug Town and Hy-Vee Drug in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids for 26 years. She also worked at Do It Best Hardware on Edgewood Road until she became too ill. Janice was very proud of her perfect lawn, beautiful flowers and, of course, her collection of frogs.
Surviving are her sons, Lee and Christian Krogh; her parents; brothers, Donald (Sue) Rogen, Cedar Rapids, John Rogen, Des Moines, and Gerald (Natalie) Rogen, Corpus Christie, Texas; and a sister, Susan (Rick) Rissman, Cedar Rapids.
A special thank-you to her "other family" at Do It Best Hardware; you are the best, especially Taylor and Kelly for your comfort and kindness till the end.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; niece, Kristine Rogen; and nephew, Kip Rogen.
