Meyer, Kimberly Ann
Kimberly Ann Meyer, 46, of Hiawatha, lost her 15 month battle with cancer on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Kim is survived by her husband, Damon; children, Zac Berndt (Heather) of Fairfax, Travis Meyer of Iowa City and Gabbie Meyer; brothers, Larry (Gail) Berndt of Ashland, Mo., Jeff (Molly) Berndt of Marion, Craig (Carol) and David (Diane) Schneider, all of Cedar Rapids; and sisters, Diane (Randy) Blakley of Urbana and Lori Schneider (Mike) of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Kelle Jo Berndt; father, Richard Berndt; and mother, Janet Beltz.
Kim was born May 17, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, and graduated from Washington High School in 1984. She married Damon Meyer on Jan. 19, 1996. Kim was employed by Rockwell Collins. Kim was a wonderful mother, daughter, wife and friend. She had the kind of personality and smile that lit up a room whenever she entered. Kim enjoyed attending her daughter's volleyball tournaments, Rough Rider Hockey, Iowa Football and last but not least, shopping. She was known for transforming her house for every holiday, with Halloween being her favorite. Kim will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
The family would like to thank the following caregivers for their compassion and support throughout Kim's illness: Dr. Ghosh and staff at the Ghosh Center, Dr. Jeffrey Nielsen, Dr. Joy Olson, and the nursing staff at Mercy Medical Center, particularly on the 4th and 8th floors.
