Jennadine Walters, 74, of Ankeny, passed away at Mercy Hospice House in Johnston on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011.
Jennadine was born in a farm house outside Elkader, Iowa on June 5, 1937, to Luver and Esther (Wilker) Palas. She attended a country school for her elementary years and then graduated from Central Community High School. She worked for more than 30 years at Elkader Wire and Display. After leaving, she went to college at Calmer and graduated with a computer degree.
Jennadine is survived by her three daughters, Jean Walters, Sheryl Walters and Pam (Tim) Schneider, all of Ankeny; her two treasured grandsons, Michael (Abbey) Schneider and Nathan Schneider, both of Ankeny; her sister, Julaine (Roger) Mohning of Monona; her sister-in- law, Elvera Palas of Elkader; three nieces; 11 nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and the twinkle of her eye, her great-grandson, Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Luver Palas; her three brothers, LuVern (Vera) Palas, Clifford (Norma) Palas and John Palas; her sister, Yvonne Frye; her special great-niece, Danelle Harringa; and her special great-nephew, Joshua Mohning.
Jennadine fought a courageous battle with cancer, enjoying her family and friends to the fullest. We would like to thank all of our family, friends, her doctors and nurses and the hospice workers for their compassion and guidance throughout Jennadine's battle with cancer.
She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Words cannot express how much we will miss her.
The family will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, in the chapel at Ankeny Memorial Gardens, 11248 NE 14th St., Ankeny, where a service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
