Loney, Willard 'Bill' E.
Willard “Bill” E. Loney, 82, of Coggon, formerly of Dubuque, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at Manor Care, Dubuque. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque. The Rev. Dianne Grace from Hospice of Dubuque will officiate. Burial will be in the East Dubuque (Ill.) Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Gary, Ind., son of Charles and Maye (Hulse) Loney. He was a graduate of the former Marquette (Iowa) High School, class of 1947. Mr. Loney was a machinist for Kwik Way Mfg. Co. in Marion for 24 years before retirement.
He was an avid outdoor enthusiast and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his Sunday visits, and Laura's cookies. A big part of his life was his longtime companion, his dog, Sam.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Linda M. (Jim) Ayers of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Tony Ayers and Laura Ayers, both of Dubuque; a great-granddaughter, Serena Ayers; a brother, George Young of East Dubuque, Ill.; his longtime friend, Barbara Hummel of Dubuque; and his former wife, Alice Decker of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dale Young; and his sister, Joyce Risely.
A Willard E. Loney Memorial Fund has been established.
