No one was hurt today after a sport-utility vehicle drove off Interstate 80 near Iowa City today to avoid hitting another vehicle.
Emergency crews to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 at the 239 mile marker at around 8:50 a.m. today, and found the silver SUV had gone off of the road after avoiding an accident. Police said the woman driving the SUV turned off the highway after another car attempted to merge into her lane without noticing she was there. The woman told police the vehicles would have collided if she had not gone off the road.
The driver of the other vehicle pulled over immediately to call 911, police said.
