ANITA SHIVERS WILKINSON Marion Anita Shivers Wilkinson, 70, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, at her home in Marion. In agreement with Anita's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion, where the family will greet friends one hour before the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Keokuk National Cemetery. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, is assisting the family. Anita is survived by her husband, John; son, Jarrad (Belinda) Wilkinson of Creedmoor, N.C.; daughter, Marjorie (Stephen) Wilkinson-Gruber of Marion; grandchildren, Emma, Samuel, Alexander, Ian, Kathryn and Peter; brother, Rodney (Elaine) Shivers of Carrolton, Ga.; and sister, Mary Bates of Casper, Wyo. She was preceded in death by her parents. Anita was born April 7, 1946, in Manchester, Ga., the daughter of Durell and Josephine (Richardson) Shivers. On Dec. 23, 1967, in Manchester, Ga., she married John Sheldon Wilkinson. Anita worked as a teacher, secretary and CNA during her career. She taught English to Korean soldiers. She also taught in Georgia, Alabama, Wisconsin and Louisiana. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion and Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved us, she took care of us, we are gonna miss her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anita's memory to Camp EWALU to honor her love of teaching children.
