Helen Arline Jorgensen, 92, of Onslow, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming, Iowa. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Onslow, followed by burial in the Wyoming Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Onslow Community Center.
Helen was born in Harlan, Iowa, on Aug. 11, 1923, to Christian Miller and Myrtle Nelson. She completed 12 years of schooling and married Kenneth D. Jorgensen on April 4, 1943, in Omaha, Neb. She worked as a homemaker and was an owner and operator of Onslow Grocery Store. She also worked for Big Bills Feed and Fertilizer as well as Dekalb feeds.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sunday school teacher, superintendent and also the church secretary.
Helen is survived by her children, Lee (Linda) Swenson, Orem, Utah, Tom (Laurie) Jorgensen, Kansas City, Kan., John (Linda) Jorgensen, Clinton, and Jim (Tina) Jorgensen, Tipton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Jorgensen; her parents, Christian and Myrtle; a grandson, Michael Swenson; and seven brothers and sisters.
