Moyers, Jerry C.
Jerry C. Moyers, 52, of Iowa City, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at his home. There will be a time of visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with a simple service to conclude the evening at 6 p.m.
Jerry Clifton Moyers was born May 21, 1958, in Iowa City, the son of John C. “Kippy” Moyers and Lola J. (Bymer) Moyers. He attended Iowa City Schools, graduating from City High School in 1977. For the past 30 years, Jerry has struggled with mental illness; his family and many good people have made it so that Jerry could live on his own.
He was a kind and gentle man. He had a quick sense of humor which he shared so that we could all laugh together or to joke around with his nieces. He had an amazing memory and the ability to recall the good things in life. He was always young at heart.
His family includes brothers, John and Jim Moyers of Iowa City and Jeff Moyers and his wife, Nataliya, of Las Vegas, Nev.; his sister, Mary Moyers and her husband, Perry Miller, of Iowa City; two nieces, Amanda Ware (Kyle) and Sara Miller; and one great-niece, Alanya Ware.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kippy and Lola Moyers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his memory to Johnson County Mental Health Agency.
Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web at
