Goodman, Beth Irene

Beth Irene Goodman, 88, of Belle Plaine, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center from complications of pneumonia. A memorial visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Hrabak Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Waltham Cemetery, rural Elberon.

She is survived by a son, Joel (Marilyn) Goodman of Stanwood; daughters, Judith Dolmage of Clinton and Andrea (Roger) Beane of Oelwein; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Beth was born Aug. 10, 1924, in Belle Plaine, to Robert E. and Alfarata Stuckenbruck Fox. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School, received a B.A. from Coe College and her master's degree from the University of Iowa. She married Jerald Goodman on Jan. 29, 1943, in Marengo. He died in March 1990.

Beth taught country schools around Belle Plaine and later in the Belle Plaine and Benton Community school districts.

She enjoyed working in her garden, crocheting, and reading.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, June.

Memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Hospice or the Benton County Food Pantry.
