Linda K. Leighty, 61, died Jan. 2, 2013, in Palm Springs, Calif.
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Dorothy (Williams) and William L. Leighty, she graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971 and attended Kirkwood Community College. She also attended College of the Desert in Palm Desert, Calif., where she had lived for the past 17 years. Linda worked in the medical field as a CNA for 20 years.
She was preceded in death her parents.
She is survived by brothers, Terry Leighty (Mary Fox) of Palatine, Ill., and Gary Leighty of Cedar Rapids; sister, Cindy Eenhuis of Covington, Ga.; and niece, Brandy Childress Ricker (Curt) of Kennesaw, Ga.
She was passionate about researching her family's genealogy and collecting Star Trek memorabilia.
Private burial: Panther Creek Cemetery outside of Adel, Iowa.
