Banowetz, Miriam Nesley
Miriam Nesley Banowetz, 91, of Anamosa, died at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a brief illness on June 25, 2011. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Methodist Church in Martelle at 10:30 a.m. June 30. A luncheon will be served after the service. There will be a private burial service at the Walker Cemetery.
Miriam is survived by her daughter, Genevieve A. Thie of Spearfish, S.D.; her son, Robert (Mary) Mefferd of Marion; her daughter- in-law, Karen Fox of Marion; brothers, Glen (Dorothy) of Coggon, Norman (Janet) of Cedar Rapids and Dean (Marcia) of Minong, Wis.; sisters, Johann (Charles) May of Stone City and Patsy (Keith) Peyton of Coggon; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace Nesley; her husband, Ted; son, James T. Fox; son-in-law, Irvin E. Thie; and a granddaughter, Sari Fox.
Miriam was born June 15, 1920, in Mount Vernon, Iowa. She loved to listen to Polka music, dance, read, eat out and visit with family, friends and to be with her special friend, Harlan Main.
Miriam will be missed by all who knew her. She loved life and kept active until she became ill.
