Lorenz, Alice I.

Alice I. Lorenz, 94, of Reinbeck, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, followed by lunch at Union United Church of Christ.

Alice was born Jan. 21, 1916, in Lincoln, Iowa, daughter of Julius and Lillian Staker. She married Lester J. Lorenz on March 12, 1936.

Survivors include her children, Gayle Dean (Patricia) Lorenz of Hudson and Shirley Stewart of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Gary Lorenz, Sheri Arnold, Jeffrey Lorenz, Steve Lorenz, Angela Huntington, Brian Stewart, Grant Stewart, David Stewart, Mark Stewart and Scott Stewart; 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester; granddaughter, Kelly Anne Stewart; great-granddaughter, Jennifer Lorenz; great-grandson, John Russell Lorenz; eight brothers, Fred, Harry, Roy, Irvin, Harold, Alvin, Louis and Wilbur Staker; and five sisters, Mabel Boege, Dala Hulme, Edna Beckwith, Alma Barfels and baby girl Staker.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Parkview Manor who have taken such special care of her all these years.
