Shramek, Henrietta Louise
Henrietta Louise Shramek, 81, of Swisher, left this world on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Louise's wishes were to be cremated and have private family graveside services at Blain Cemetery, rural Swisher. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.
Henrietta Louise McDermott was born July 30, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, to Royal and Catherine McDermott. She graduated from McKinley High School and Mount Mercy College. Louise met Edward F. Shramek Jr. at Dance-Mor Ballroom in Swisher and they were married July 18, 1952, in Cedar Rapids. Edward died Nov. 17, 1977. Louise and Edward were the parents of seven children. Louise worked alongside her husband at Edward F. Shramek Jr. Construction Co. for many years until his death.
Louise is survived by her children, Susan (Alan) Sackett, David Shramek, Patrice (Mike Harrold) Becicka, Sally (Jay) Podzimek, Kris (Craig) Drew and Kelly; grandchildren, Amy (Ike), Rebecca (John), Christopher (Jill), Emily (Todd), Chase (Anne), Jacob, Dustin, Drew (Monica), Molly, Taylor, Genesis, Krystal (Dave), Michael, Tara, David and Josh; great-grandchildren, Sierra, Nate, Kayla, Ian, Ethan, Annmarie, Sophie, Christopher, Brianna, Keegan, Paige, Ella and Maliyah; nieces; nephews; and close family members and friends, especially Frank, Tom, Sharon and Wayne. Louise also was a friend of Bill W. for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Michael; daughter, LuAnne; granddaughters, Jennifer Drew and Jessica Hagen; grandson, Kevin Keifer; her parents; and a sister, Shiela Turecek.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to HACAP of Cedar Rapids and MECCA of Iowa City.
