Daggit, Robert Joseph
Robert Joseph Daggit, 69, of Avon Park, Fla., passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, at his home. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Highlands Ridge Founders Hall, Avon Park, with the Rev. Andy Conyers officiating.
He was born June 2, 1940, to Robert Anson and Audrey Margaret (Burris) Daggit, in Minneapolis, and had been a winter resident of Avon Park since 1994 and a permanent resident since October 2008. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend and had worked in sales in the steel industry. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Men's Golf Association of Highlands Ridge. He enjoyed hunting, was a nature enthusiast and especially enjoyed bird watching. He grew up with Golden Retrievers and recently adopted a nine-year-old Golden Retriever named Tyler. He was very well known for his generosity and great sense of humor.
Mr. Daggit is survived by his wife, Joanne of Avon Park; sons, Thomas Daggit, Chicago, and John Daggit, Phoenix; daughter, Margaret (Rick) Tyler, Iowa City, Iowa; brother, Joseph Francis Daggit, Chicago; and grandchildren, Sean and Savannah.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to any of the following organizations: Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida, Southeastern Guide Dogs or the American Diabetes Association.
