Cantonwine, Dale L.
Dale L. Cantonwine, 83, of Tipton, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, in Mercy Hospice Care, Iowa City.
Dale was born Oct. 2, 1930, on a farm in Benton County, Iowa. He was the son of Leland and Marie Moubry Cantonwine. Dale graduated from Vinton High School in 1949. On June 26, 1949, Dale was united in marriage to Patricia LaVonne Primmer in Vinton. He was a meat cutter and owned and operated Cantonwine Locker Service in Stanwood, Iowa, for many years. Dale was a member of the First United Church of Christ, a past Scout leader and Lions Club member. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Dale is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Patricia Cantonwine of Tipton; his five children, Connie Hasenbank of Tipton, Mike (Debbie) Cantonwine of Tucson, Ariz., Vonda (Randy) Moore of San Angelo, Texas, Wendy Daedlow of Tipton and Randy (Janet) Cantonwine of Donnellson; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond Cantonwine of Independence; and several nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Cantonwine.
Per Dale's request there will be no formal services.
