Ruen, Lila Mae
Lila Mae Ruen, 83, of Decorah, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at her home with her children at her side. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago St., Decorah, The Rev. Wayne Hagen and the Rev. Allen Hermeier will preside. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Schluter–Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave., Decorah, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Lila's survivors include her children, V. Wayne Ruen, Princeton, Ill., and Marilyn (Norm) Shaffer, Cedar Rapids; grandchildren: Jessica (friend, James Siddell) Connersville, Ind., R. Daniel (Teresa) Wilkes, Cedar Rapids, Amanda Shaffer, Iowa City, and John (Cyndi) Shaffer and Jeni (Greg) Hartford, Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Katie, Henry and Auggie Wilkes, Jordan and Jacob Shaffer, Ashley and Allie LeGrand and Matthew Hartford; one brother, Arnold (Nan Larson) Dahlen Sr., Decorah; two sisters, Hazel (Dean) Downing, Postville, and Phyllis (Bernard) Wanless, Mabel, Minn.; and one brother-in-law, Otto Ruen, Decorah.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon A. Ruen, on Dec. 8, 1999.
