Dorothy Beata Reager Eads, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Private family inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dorothy was born April 8, 1932, in Primghar, Iowa, to Henry and Janette (Lamb) Reager. After graduating from high school, she received a bachelor of science degree. She went on to have a career in nursing, working at St. Luke's Hospital, serving as a school nurse, as well as teaching and advising nursing students. She retired in the early 2000s.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Judge William Richard Eads on Sept. 7, 1957, in Primghar. To this union, two daughters were born.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (David) Leese of Allen, Texas, and Jennifer (Mark) Anderson of Eagleville, Pa.; four granddaughters, Megan Leese (fiance Darren Simoes) of Phoenix, Ariz., Jennifer (Brian) Bailey of Gilbert, Ariz., Katie (Rafael Kennedy) Anderson of Washington, D.C., and Sarah Anderson of Eagleville; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Ava Bailey.

Also surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Haygreen of Lewes, Del., and Lillian Baker of Knoxville, Tenn.; cousin, Anna Mary (Ron) Pauley of Wisconsin; as well as many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge William R. Eads, in 2013; her parents; sister, Anna O'Brien; and her beloved dogs, Archie, Teddy and Emmy.
