Mount Mercy women top Clarke in Cedar Rapids: Small College Women’s Basketball Roundup

Mount Mercy edged over the .500 mark overall and in Midwest Collegiate Conference games last night with a 58-53 defeat of Clarke at Hennessey Rec Center in Cedar Rapids.
The Mustangs, who were led in scoring by Abby Herb with 18 points and Christa Oldham with 12, improved to 13-12 overall and 4-3 in league games.
Mount Mercy led 23-22 at the break after shooting 25 percent in the first half but improved to 50-percent shooting in the second half.
WARTBURG 60, COE 54
- Coe (13-7, 6-3) shot just 31.4 percent from the field in dropping the Iowa Conference game at Waverly.
Courteny McCrary scored 13 points and Megan Hayes 11 for the Kohawks, who made just 16 of 51 shots and 7 of 25 3-point attempts.
Kailey Kladivo scored 12 points for Wartburg (13-7, 3-5).
LUTHER 45, SIMPSON 35
- The cold shooting on a cold night continued in Decorah, where the Norse shot just 25.0 percent from the floor and Simpson 22.8 percent.
The teams combined to make 29 of 121 shots and 5 of 33 3-pointers.
Kylie Romeo scored 11 points for Luther (16-4, 6-3), Carrie Kilen and Meagan Koepnick 10 apiece.
Britney Boland led Simpson (14-6, 5-4) with 10 points.
CORNELL 106, KNOX 69
- Cornell bucked the trend at Mount Vernon, shooting 49.4 percent in surpassing the century mark in a Midwest Conference game.
Taylor Dicus had a monster double-double for the Rams (11-8, 9-5) with 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting and 17 rebounds.
Rikkie Mulloy scored 25 points, Larissa Brewer 12 and Sarah Hansen 11.
