Fenton, Gerald 'Jerry' Dean
Gerald “Jerry” Dean Fenton, 73, of Marion, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Chaplain Dan Hoeger officiating. A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his daughter, Shannon (Steve) Cary of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Linda (Paul) Huber, Dorothy Wood and Patricia Brogan, all of Cedar Rapids; and brothers, Dwight Fenton of Cedar Rapids and Don (Helen) Fenton of Arvada, Colo.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dwayne; sisters-in-law, Merine and Bertha, brother-in-law, Richard Wood; niece, Terry Smith; and nephew, Michael Brogan.
Gerald Dean Fenton was born April 25, 1939, to Lloyd and Edna (Burgin) Fenton. He enjoyed reading, his dogs, traveling out West, American Indian Culture, Iowa Hawkeye Basketball and especially his special bond he had with his daughter, Shannon. Gerald had worked at Weyerhauser for over 40 years and treasured the many friendships he made while working there. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
