Leota L. Egan, 77, of the Good Neighbor Society, Manchester, formerly of Fairbank, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with Deacon Jim Patera officiating. Burial: Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, with a parish rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a Scripture service at 6 p.m.
Survivors include a sister, Lauretta (Darwin) Jones of Arlington; a niece, Laurie Maker (Frank Coonrod); two great-nieces, Nikki Maker (Dustin Chattinger) and Sammi Maker; along with other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dan Egan in 2007; and two nephews, Darrin Jones and Gary Maker.
Leota was born July 16, 1937, in rural Arlington, Iowa, to Logan and Lucille Smith Beltz. She married Dan Egan on Dec. 6, 1969, at Immaculate Conception Church. She was a high school graduate. She worked in Oelwein at several businesses, including Jewel Tea, Mike's IGA, Iowa Gas and Electric and most recently, Advanced Datacom.
