Woeste, Joyce
Joyce Woeste, 86, of Colesburg, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at the Colesburg United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Allen Craft. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Earlville. Additional visitation will be one hour before services at the church.
Joyce was born June 4, 1927, in Colesburg, the daughter of Clarence and Irene (Timmons) Hartbeck. On Dec. 26, 1951, Joyce was united in marriage to Leland Woeste at Immanuel Methodist Church in Colesburg. Joyce and Leland enjoyed nearly 50 years together. She received her teaching certification from Iowa State Teachers College. Joyce was employed by the Edgewood-Colesburg Schools for many years.
Joyce was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and a supporter of Youth for Christ. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, listening to music, and had a great love for her family.
Joyce is survived by her children, Pamela (Dave) Smith of Ames, Janet (Jeff) Harbaugh of Edgewood, Debra (Barry) Champagne of Houston, Texas, Michael (Jennifer) Woeste of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brian (Wendy) Woeste of Humboldt, Joan (Carl) Thurn of Dows and Kimberly (Dennis) Woeste-Cox of Billings, Mont.; daughter-in-law, Kathy Woeste Hanson of Ames; 16 grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred (Lawrence) Jensen of New Hampton.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland in 2001; and a son, Scott in 1993.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colesburg United Methodist Church or Youth for Christ.
