Timmons, Jean
Jean Timmons, 90, of Colesburg, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at the United Methodist Church in Colesburg by the Rev. Allen Craft. Visitation will be one hour before services Tuesday at the church. Burial: Fairview Cemetery in Earlville. Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Earlville are in charge of the arrangements.
Jean was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Colesburg, the daughter of Dale and Mary (Walters) Learn. She received her education in Colesburg. On Sept. 26, 1939, she was united in marriage to Dale Timmons in Edgewood. The couple farmed near Colesburg.
Jean was a homemaker and worked for Ertls in Dyersville for 15 years. Jean was very involved in her children's activities and taught them a good work ethic. Jean was involved in her church, taught Sunday school and a Cub Scout Leader. She was a good cook and enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She made comforters and lap blankets for everyone in her family, always looking forward to the family's Labor Day get together. .
Jean is survived by three daughters, Gwen (Floyd) Sampson of Colesburg, Janet (Ed) Larson of Independence, and Barbara (Gary) Gross of Cascade; two sons, David (Jan) Timmons of Independence and Gary (Carol) Timmons of Colesburg; 15 grandchildren, 37great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Dale in 1994; her parents, Dale and Mary Learn; a twin daughter, Janice in infancy; a grandson, Chad McLane; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ed and Betty Learn Meehan.
