Tax increases affecting high-priced homes, too
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Leon Mehring's letter (“Tax brackets make no sense,” Sept. 14) stated that when he inquired about his 10 percent property tax increase, the personnel collecting his taxes told him valuations went up on lower-priced homes (causing his taxes to increase) and down on homes above $400,000.
Someone is dispensing erroneous information as I live in and get to pay the property taxes for one of those homes in the second category above and, for the record, my property taxes increased 4 percent this year after a 9 percent increase last year!
