Elsie Mae (Wart) Metcalf, 101, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away July 5, 2018, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial at Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Elsie was born April 1, 1917, in Viola, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Maggie (Leninger) McLucas. She married LeRoy Wart in 1933; he passed in 1977. She married Marlin Metcalf in 1987; he passed in 2003. Elsie was a farmer and a member of the First Church of the Open Bible. She loved latch hooking, gardening, animals and farm life.
Elsie is survived by her children, Elmer Wart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Richard (Shirley) Ward of Casa Grande, Ariz., Maynard (Lola) Wart of Shepardsville, Ky., Clarabelle Taylor of Marion and Dorothy (Garry) Grimm of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, LeRoy Wart and Marlin Metcalf; daughter, Geneva Eiben; two brothers, Raymond Clary and Willard Clary; and two sons-in-law, Raymond Taylor and Robert Eiben.
