RAYMOND LEFEBURE

Raymond E. Lefebure passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City of congestive heart failure. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fairfax by the Rev. Dustin Vu. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fairfax, with military services.
Raymond was born on June 17, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to John W. and Patricia Lefebure.
He is survived by four brothers, Don (Peg) Lefebure, Gary (Bonita) Lefebure, Dale (Kris) Lefebure and Dean (Debbie) Lefebure, all of Fairfax; two sisters, Mary Ann Costigan and Marilyn Lefebure of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gilbert (Gil); and a nephew, Kelly Costigan.
Raymond lived in the Fairfax area much of his life and was a life-long member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fairfax. He graduated from Prairie High School in 1962. Ray served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict and was honorably discharged in December 1966. He was extremely proud of his service to his country.
Ray was a kind and gentle person with a deep love of family and especially enjoyed large family gatherings. Raymond recently resided at Ridgeview Assisted Living Community where he felt very much at home and made many friends.
The family would like to thank Rhonda Jones as well as the staff at Ridgeview for their loving care.
Ray had a soft spot in his heart for animals and had a deep love of nature. He also loved farming, gardening, listening to music and playing the piano for friends and family. He was a member of the American Legion PEKOMY Post in Fairfax and was a charter member of the Fairfax LA Club. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Memorials will be directed to local hospice programs in the area.
