A five-person group appointed to review the University of Iowa's Presidential Committee on Athletics will submit a report to UI President Sally Mason by the end of the semester.
UI Faculty Senate President Ed Dove is one of the five charged with reviewing the Presidential Committee on Athletics. Dove updated the UI Faculty Council Tuesday, saying the review group was meeting periodically and would report to Mason by the end of this academic year.
The Presidential Committee on Athletics is an advisory group to Mason. The committee is being reviewed as part of a periodic review of all of the UI charter committees.
Along with Dove, the others appointed by Mason to review the Presidential Committee on Athletics are Staff Council President Amber Seaton and the presidents of three student groups: the Student Government, the Graduate Student Senate and the Executive Council for Graduate and Professional Students.
Dove said the group has no specific charge other than to review the Presidential Committee on Athletics.
“To see if we could find ways to make it a better resource for the president and the athletics director,” Dove said.
