Marjorie A. Strabala, 87, of Wellman, formerly of Richmond, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Parkview Manor in Wellman. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond, with Father David Brownfield officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with a rosary and vigil service at 3 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established for Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Richmond AMVETS Post 107.
Marjorie Ann (Hochstedler) Strabala was born Nov. 15, 1929, in Johnson County, the daughter of Lewis and Annie Marie (Plank) Hochstedler. She graduated from Kalona High School in 1948. On Nov. 23, 1948, she was united in marriage to Maurice "Moe" Strabala at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was the secretary for C & S Electric for many years and enjoyed bowling, playing golf, gardening, Hawkeye football trips and spending time with her family. Marge was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Survivors include six children, Jerry (Pat) Strabala of Washington, Iowa, Greg Strabala of Iowa City, Neil (Doreen) Strabala of Hills, Terry (Deb) Strabala of Richmond, Maureen (Tom) Stokes of Iowa City and Jenny (Ron) Capper of Williamsburg; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Yotty of Kalona.
Preceding Marjorie in death were her parents; her husband, Moe, on March 27, 2008; her sister, Mary Kathryn Karr; her daughter-in-law, Pam Strabala; and her grandson, Steven Strabala.
