Thomas D. Struchen, 73, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
There will be a family memorial service and burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine, Iowa, at a later date.
Thomas was born March 28, 1944, to Earl and Betty (Thomas) Struchen in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids. Following school, he worked for Eagles Grocery in Cedar Rapids and then went to Goss Manufacturing as a machinist for 34 years until retirement. In 1963 Thomas married Vivian Yanda. To this union three children were born. In 1979 he married Bess Light and her two children joined the family. After her passing, Thomas committed to Theresa Burton in 2012.
Thomas enjoyed bowling and golf. He was a member of Cedar Rapids Moose Lodge and the Machinist Union.
He is survived by his children, T.J. (Deb) Struchen and Julie Nosek, both of Cedar Rapids, Kyle (Susan) Light of Mechanicsville and Kevin Light of Phoenix; brother, Calvin (Cathy) Struchen of Toddville; sister, Linda Robins of Marion; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with many more loving family and friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lynn Jacobus; and wife, Bess Light.
