State Rep. Abby Finkenauer, a Dubuque Democratic seeking the nomination in Iowa's 1st Congressional District, has decided to give a $1,500 contribution from Minnesota U.S. Sen. Al Franken's leadership PAC - Midwest Values - to a nonprofit organization that helps sexual assault victims.
Franken has been accused of kissing and groping a woman without her consent. U.S. Senate leaders have called for an ethics investigation.
'Sexual assault is not a partisan problem,” Finkenauer said. 'Democrats need to hold ourselves to the same standards we would demand of Republicans. We all must do more. Hear women, believe women, and act.”
She will give Franken's contribution to the Riverview Center, which provides services in Cedar Rapids. Dubuque, Decorah, Manchester and Waterloo.
