Solveig "Sue" Marie (Bodin) Eggen, 99, of Cedar Rapids, entered heaven's gates on Oct. 19, 2015. She was a born-again believer, whose greatest desire was to glorify God with her life.
She was born June 11, 1916, in Chicago to Norwegian immigrants, Robert Emmanuel Bodin and Anna Marie (Knudsen). Sue served as a Sunday school teacher and deaconess at Jefferson Park Evangelical Free Church for many years. She had a gift for hospitality and was a prayer warrior and an inspiration to everyone
she met.
Among her many talents were singing, playing piano, sewing and gardening.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ingolf Arthur Eggen. She also is survived by her son, Paul Eggen of Blooming-dale, Ill.; daughter, Joyce Peet of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Jody (Derrick) Daringer of Cedar Rapids, Jamie (Brian) Googins of Blaine, Minn., and Julie (Brad) Schooley and Jason (Sherri) Peet, both of Cedar Rapids; and 11 great-grandchildren, Zach, Adri, Steph, Matt, Devin, Dustin, Sadie, Dylan, Kyla, Kyra and Alex.
A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Stonebridge Church, 1829 Stoney Point Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Evergreen Estates III, c/o Art Eggen, 2204 Johnson Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.
