Atkins
Dennis D. Hertle, 72, of Atkins, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at home following a sudden illness. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, April 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Ave., Vinton. Interment will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy of Atkins; his children, Michael of Cedar Rapids and Michelle (James) Comisky and Melissa, both of Atkins; his grandson, T.J. Comisky of Atkins; his sister, Francine (Daryl) Daker of Cedar Rapids; his sisters-in-law, Judy Hertle of Newhall and Becky Mikesell of Cedar Rapids; his brother-in-law, Bill Blough of Branson, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard.
Dennis was born Nov. 23, 1942, in Vinton, the son of Clarence and Elfrieda (Fiebelkorn) Hertle. He graduated from Newhall High School in 1960 and married Sandra S. Blough on June 19, 1965.
Dennis retired in 2007 following a career in a variety of sales positions. He enjoyed country music, attending over 100 Statler Brothers concerts, sports, watching races and especially enjoyed watching his grandson's activities. Dennis always had a joke to share with others.
Memorials may be directed to the Atkins Volunteer Fire Department/First Responders.
