Police officer went above and beyond
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Recently, I dropped my wallet at a local convenience store while walking out the door. The wallet was picked up and turned into the clerk. I went back to retrieve it and the money was gone. I called the police to report the missing money.
Officer Loren Culver showed up at our house a short time later. I told Officer Culver what happened and that the manager of the store had reviewed the camera footage of the time I was at the store and he said he did not find anything obvious and that he would talk to the clerk when he came in that evening.
Officer Culver went to the store and reviewed the camera footage, changing camera angles, and finally the perpetrator was caught red-handed on camera. Officer Culver returned to our house and was very detailed in how it all went down.
Long story short, this officer tracked the perpetrator down and had the gentleman meet me at the store the following morning and the thief returned part of my money. I told Officer Culver we would not press charges if the thief returned our money. The following morning, the thief returned the remainder of our money.
I would like to thank Officer Culver for the wonderful job. We feel he went above and beyond for us.
