MISCALCULATION:
The past three years of financial statements by Casey's General Stores will need be revised because of an accounting error on the ethanol excise tax. The Ankeny-based chain has repaid $31.5 million in taxes and interest related to the mistake. Initial market reactions were swift, with Casey's stock down roughly 8 percent.

STICKY FINGERS:
A 36-year-old Waterloo man was arrested for taking an Honor Flight donation jar from Greenwood Drug. The jar contained about $300 in donations, and the man faces third-degree theft charges.

VENDING VARIETY:
A recent legal dispute brought to light the fact that 41 percent of 130 vending machine sites on state-run property are under contract to members of the committee that awards such contracts. Four of the five Business Enterprises Program committee members also control 36 percent of vending at rest stops throughout the state.
