PJ Sass, 60, of Urbandale, passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, surrounded by her family. A memorial gathering inviting family and friends to celebrate PJ's life will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 10 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, located at 8201 Hickman Rd., Urbandale.
PJ Sass was born May 24, 1954, in Des Moines, the daughter of Doris Antonious and Nick Routans. She grew up in Des Moines and was a 1972 graduate of Tech High School. PJ married David C. Sass on Sept. 19, 1992, in Des Moines, where they have spent the last 22 years creating memories of a lifetime.
She was a well-respected and loved customer service manager at DART and previouly was a manager at the Des Moines Marriott for many years.
PJ was most known for her willingness to listen and desire to help people. She had the ability to make those she touched always feel important and good about themselves. Her desire to capture every precious moment in life was by taking countless pictures. She encapsulated these memories in the form of picture books and family calendars to share each year with her family.
PJ is survived by her mother, Doris Antonious; husband, David C. Sass; sister, Toni Armstrong; sons, Adam Hadjis and Lucas Jones; and grandchildren, Lundyn and Taylyn Jones, Harley and Alina Hadjis.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Gertie Corfe; father, Nick Routans; brother, Danny Duncan; and granddaughter, Gianna Hadjis.
PJ's family and friends would like to thank the staff at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, John Stoddard Cancer Center and Iowa Methodist Medical Center for their extended efforts and professionalism. PJ's wishes were to be cremated so there will be no burial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made at PJ's Memorial Gathering or to the PJ Sass Memorial Fund at Bank of the West, 8300 Douglas Ave., Urbandale, IA 50322.
