Contact your state senators and representatives, asking them to change the outdated and cruel grandparent's rights laws in Iowa. It can only be used to harm grandparents, parents and children.
A list of contact information is listed on this website: www.legis.state.ia.us/aspx/Legislators/LegislatorInfo.aspx
You never know when someone will use this law to inflict cruel and heartless behavior. Even people viewed as fine, upstanding, churchgoing members of society can decide to withhold visitation of grandchildren. It is difficult to understand why someone would inflict this behavior on their own children and grandchildren.
I have been in contact with my state representative and am making arrangements to appear before the Iowa Legislature. I also am making arrangements to have the local news media there so this issue can be aired across Iowa.
