Nebraska Furniture Mart deal means growth for SecurityCoverage

CEDAR RAPIDS - SecurityCoverage will be expanding its operations to provide in-store technical support services for Nebraska Furniture Mart stores in Kansas City, Kans., and Omaha.
The Cedar Rapids-based technology company became Nebraska Furniture Mart's exclusive partner for computer software and technical support on Oct. 17 for the Kansas City and Omaha stores, the company said in a statement issued Thursday, Oct. 27.
Customers who bring their computers into Nebraska Furniture Mart will be assisted by SecurityCoverage's certified TotalTech technicians, who will diagnose the computer issue and present options for the computer repair. They also will handle extended warranty work.
Additional services will include setup, security and ongoing support, and technical support for Nebraska Furniture Mart's expanding tablet and mobile computer business.
About 25 staff members will be added by SecurityCoverage in Cedar Rapids, Kansas City and Omaha
to provide the company's TotalTech services, the company said. They will include technical support, advanced information technology product management and supervisory positions.
"We will now be able to reach a completely new customer base with our computer services and other value-added offerings," SecurityCoverage CEO Bob O'Dell said.
Nebraska Furniture Mart, which is part of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies, was founded in 1937 by Rose Blumkin in the basement of her husband's jewelry store with a $500 investment. The company began selling online in 2006 through its website, nfm.com.
