Alberta Francis Wagner, 91, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Mo.
Alberta was born Oct. 10, 1925, to Vidal and Michaela Morales in Oelwein, Iowa, the youngest of eight children. She was united in marriage to Max Lavern Wagner on Dec. 6, 1945, in Troy, Kan. Alberta worked as a test technician at Rockwell Collins for over 30 years before retiring.
Alberta is survived by her loving daughter, Renee (Dave) Siders, Washington, Mo.; three wonderful grandsons, Jeffrey Siders, Cedar Falls, Matthew (Kaye) Siders, Mount Vernon, and Daniel (Christine) Siders, Carmel, Ind.; and four great-grandchildren, Max, Brady, Owen and Elizabeth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; her parents; her seven older siblings; and a grandson.
Alberta did beautiful handneedle work and was a member of Cedar Valley Chapter of Embroiderers Guild of America. She also handmade infant hats for Mercy Medical Center, enjoyed camping in the RV, taking her grandsons on many trips in the summer, and was a longtime member of St. Matthew's Parish in Cedar Rapids.
Alberta spent her last year at Arbors of Victorian Place in Washington, Mo., where she had many close friends and enjoyed the field trips and music outings.
Celebration of Life Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 7, with a vigil service at 4 p.m., at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow Mass at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Arbors at Victorian Place, 2701 Rabbit Trail Dr., Washington, MO 63090 or St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
