School Board officially fires Bob Burke

The former Dubuque Principal who faces child pornography charges has officially lost his job.

The Dubuque School Board officially fired Robert Burke.

Federal investigators charged Burke with receiving child pornography.

Those investigators say he also confessed to putting hidden cameras in the boy's bathroom at Sageville School.

Bob Burke has been on paid administrative leave ever since police arrested him ten days ago. But that's all over. He is no longer a Dubuque School District Employee.

State law requires school districts to give an employee five days to appeal a termination. Dubuque administrators say those five days have come and gone and they haven't heard from Burke.

Now administrators say the healing process begins. A big part of that process will be hiring a new principal at Sageville.

Superintendent Dr. Larie Godinez said, “It is going to take us some time to hire a new principal, but we will look to do that as fast as possible because I think that is part of the healing process once we start moving from there. ”

Dr. Godinez says they haven't decided if they will move a principal from another school over to Sageville, or if they will they will hire someone from the outside to take over that role.

Godinez said when and if she learns any new information about the investigation she will share that information with Sageville parents.
