One dead after semi rear-ends car near Iowa City
IOWA CITY – One person was killed and two others were hurt when a semi-tractor trailer struck a car Tuesday evening on Highway 218.
The semi driven by Brandon Bachman, 34, of Mount Pleasant, rear-ended a car driven by Kevin Nau, 50, of Mount Pleasant, around 7 p.m. just south of the Riverside Drive exit, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Both vehicles wound up in a ditch.
A passenger in Nau's vehicle died at the scene. That person's name has not been released.
Nau and another passenger in the car, Michele Nau, 38, of Mount Pleasant were injured. They were transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Bachman was not injured, according to the patrol's crash report.
An investigation was continuing.
