Netolicky, William Walter
William Walter Netolicky, 89, of Alpine, Calif., formerly of Swisher, died Dec. 17, 2010, at Villa Las Palmas Healthcare Center in El Cajon, Calif. His body was cremated. Interment, with military honors, will take place at Fort Rosecrans in San Diego at a future date.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn L. Netolicky of Alpine, Calif.; three sons, Kenneth W. Netolicky of Bullhead City, Ariz., William Michael Netolicky of Alpine, Calif., and Robert A. Netolicky of Kennewick, Wash.; a sister, Dorothy Hein of St. Charles, Ill.; and grandchildren, Jeffrey A. Pierce, Dustin, Kelly, Michelle and Lindsay Netolicky and J.J. Tomash.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Warren and Maxine Tesar; two brothers, Vernon and Clarence Netolicky, and his parents.
Bill was born Nov. 9, 1921, near Solon, Iowa, son of William and Amelia (Novotny) Netolicky. He graduated from Shueyville High School and then joined the Navy. He retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel from the Army National Guard after 30 years of service where he commanded units and flew helicopters. Bill was a licensed contractor who held many positions in various organizations, including the American Legion and Reserved Officers Association. Bill was also mayor of Swisher, Iowa, before relocating to San Diego, Calif., in the early 1960s.
