Bedard, Frederic C.
Frederic C. Bedard, 91, of Iowa City, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013, at Briarwood Health Care Center in Iowa City. A gathering for family and friends will be Sunday, April 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9926.
Frederic was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the son of Charles and May Bedard. He was raised in Ottawa and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Reserve Navy. On Oct. 7, 1944, Frederic married Rita Hausler in Ottawa.
Frederic worked in Cedar Rapids for the Laurence Press and was part owner of Feieriesen Inc. He retired in 1980 in Iowa City. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, a past president of the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen, a volunteer at the Senior Center, member of the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered at the Community Theater in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
Survivors include his wife, Rita; daughter, Danielle Holbrook; brother, George (Elsie) Bedard; two grandchildren, Stephanie Reinhold and Matthew (Kelly) Reinhold; and two great-grandchildren, Rowan and Maier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Bedard; and two sisters, Estelle McDonald, and Gertrude Duncan.
