Tesar, Shirley Mae
Shirley Mae Tesar, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at her home. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Ave. NW. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
Shirley was born July 19, 1925, in Osage, the daughter of John R. and Bessie (Button) Tubbs. She attended school in Osage and graduated in 1948. She went on to attend the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She married John Tesar on Feb. 10, 1945.
Shirley is survived by her children, John Tesar, Rose Newlon, Deborah Darrow, Kathy Zieser and Lorraine Howk; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Betty Warner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; infant twin sons; four sisters; and two brothers.
