Tesar, Gladys E.
Gladys E. Tesar, 89, of Mount Vernon, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Hallmark Care Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Springville. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil.
Gladys was born July 20, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Louis and Elsie (Pavlis) Doskocil. She married Louis Tesar on Sept. 29, 1943. Gladys enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, the cows and her dogs, going to auctions and dances and spending time with her friends and family. Gladys and Louis were one of the founding members of St. Isidore Catholic Church.
Gladys is survived by her children, Marie Theisen of Urbandale, James (Delores) Tesar of Springville and Donald (Gloria) Tesar of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Doskocil in Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Arlene Posposil of Lisbon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis on June 19, 2004; her brother, Lumir Doskocil; a son, Richard Tesar; and a grandson, Scott Theisen.
